IFS

IFS (Internal Family Systems) is an evidence based method that focuses on understanding and healing the different parts of an individual’s internal system. The IFS model believes that individuals have various parts within them, each with good intentions and with their own thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and desires. Sometimes these parts over function, are misguided, or are in conflict with one another which can cause feelings of emotional distress and dysfunctional behavior.

IFS also believes that we all have a core Self that when present can help these parts heal, resolve conflicts, and bring greater trust and leadership to the system. Through a process of exploring this inner landscape, a client can start to build a relationship with their parts, understand their roles and protective functions, and promote self-awareness, compassion, and healing.

We are all aware of families or teams in the professional sphere that are full of conflict and hurt feelings - in need of strong, courageous leadership. Similarly, there are times when our inner parts are not working well together and IFS is a process that encourages the developing of greater self awareness, and self leadership.
